WINNER OF 2011 FIRST JOE/JME PRIZE - DR RUBEN NOGUEIRAS, SPAIN

J M E coverDesigned to recognise an outstanding young researcher who has made a significant contribution to research in basic endocrinology, the prize is awarded on alternate years by Journal of Endocrinology and Journal of Molecular Endocrinology.

The 2011 prize was awarded by the Journal of Molecular Endocrinology.

The 2012 prize is to be awarded by Journal of Endocrinology.

Deadline extended: 31 January 2012

 

Eligibility:

  • Candidates should be members of the European Society of Endocrinology or Society for Endocrinology
  • They should be researchers in basic science, maximum 5 years post-PhD
  • Nominations should be made by a senior researcher in the candidate’s group, accompanied by supporting comments, the candidate’s CV, and a list of the candidate’s publications
  • There is no restriction on the location of candidates
  • Entries are allowed by email
  • Self applications will not be considered

Evaluation:

  • The jury is composed of the journals’ Editors-in-Chief, and representatives of the ESE and SFE Publications Committees
  • The successful candidate will be notified in February
  • The decision is final and not subject to appeal

The prize consists of a certificate and €2000. The winner’s name and details will be published in the societies’ newsletters, ESE News and The Endocrinologist, and on the websites.

As both Journal of Endocrinology and Journal of Molecular Endocrinology are official journals of the European Society of Endocrinology, the award will be presented during the annual European Congress of Endocrinology. The recipient of the prize will be expected to give a short presentation on their research at the time of the award and submit a review article to the journal awarding the prize.
