Sample the majestic beauty of Loch Lomond and the spirit of Scotland - whisky! Loch Lomond and Luss, a picture-postcard village, will be the starting point for this short tour of the beautiful surrounding countryside. A short walk to Luss Pier affords stunning views across Britain's largest expanse of fresh water to Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro (a mountain over 3,000 feet high). At the Glengoyne Distillery you will learn how Glengoyne Single Highland Malt Whisky is made and sample a dram of the 10 Year Old.

Stirling, Trossachs and Loch Lomond

MONDAY 3 APRIL 2006 (8 hours)

Tour leaves at 09.00 prompt. Visit a former royal residence, military stronghold and experience the "Highlands in Miniature". Traveling northeastwards we make a brief photostop at the foot of the dramatic National Wallace Monument, memorial to the great Scottish patriot William Wallace (Braveheart), before visiting the 15th century Stirling Castle. From Stirling we drive to the first planned rural town in Scotland, Callander, set beneath steep hills at the foot of the Highlands. After lunch we head to the Trossachs, one of the most scenic trails in central Scotland. Our last photostop, at the southwest corner of Loch Lomond, affords spectacular views of Britain's largest expanse of fresh water.
